Bruce Irons: The Bruce Movie

The Bruce Movie é um filme simples e linear sobre a vida de um dos surfistas mais talentosos do mundo de sempre. Muito surf, boas manobras e entrevistas engraçadas, juntas com uma pequena viagem com amigos no fim.

O filme passa pelos momentos chaves da vida de Bruce Irons, apesar de, estranhamente, não falar da sua vitória em Pipeline em 2001. As atenções centram-se no seu primeiro ano no WCT e na sua vitória no Eddie Aikau.

Para lá destes momentos fala-se da sua relação com o seu irmão, com a vida competitiva e o sítio que ele chama casa – o Havai.

Durante o filme vários nomes importantes do surf mundial falam sobre Bruce. Nomes como Kai Garcia, um dos líderes do surf havaiano, Danny Way, Sunny Garcia, Kala Alexander, Mark Occhilupo e até Andy Irons.

Outros surfistas sem ser Bruce Irons, no filme, só durante a viagem à Indonésia, Andy Irons, Gavin Beshenm Dean Morrison, Bol e Koby Abberton são os surfistas escolhidos por Bruce para esta secção do filme.

Shelter

The Moonshine Conspiracy's third and biggest project, "Shelter", carries the spirit of Thicker Than Water and September Sessions, however it has a texture and vision all it's own.

Surfers featured include the likes of Machado and Dorian but the film also hosts the surfing and thoughts from people such as Joel Tudor, Nat Young, Mick Fanning, Malia Jones, and many more. There is even an unconfirmed sighting of Ben Harper in an early cut of the film.

The all-original score for the project is being headed by Joachim Cooder (from the Grammy winning documentary the "Buena Vista Social Club") and is turning out to be an eclectic piece of art on it's own. We can only imagine the various artists he has in store for the ever-changing mood of the film.

As far as surfing goes, there are over thirty hours of footage that according to Brad Gerlach is "the best surfing I've ever seen". It's been cut down to an hour by directors Taylor Steele and Chris Malloy with a hand from Emmett Malloy and Jack Johnson

Campaign 2

Campaign foi um dos filmes de Taylor Steele com mais sucesso de sempre, ao pousar a sua lente em surfistas como os irmãos Irons, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, os irmãos Hobgood, Kelly Slater entre outros.

Esta segunda versão é praticamente feita com os mesmos surfistas do primeiro Campaign, mas com apenas três anos de diferença é possível ver alguma diferença no surf. Os personagens principais parecem mais adultos no seu surf, e parecem levar a performance um pouco mais além do que aparentemente é possível.

O filme tem uma pequena história, com muita piada em que, por causa de uma audição para um filme em Hollywood sobre surf. Muitas das personalidades desta modalidade, feitas super-heróis, ou assassinos contratados por Kelly “Marsellus” Slater, vão tentar encontrar maneira de impedir que Shane Dorian, num papel que goza com ele próprio, faça novamente um filme de surf.

As demonstrações de surf de cada surfista neste filme são do melhor que alguma vez foi captado. Destaque para muitos surfistas Bruce Irons, Andy Irons, Taj Burrow e Jamie O’Brien são alguns dos surfistas donos de melhores sequências.

Mas a sequência mais espantosa é mesmo a de Kelly Slater, que quase só numa sessão de surf em Barbados, faz uma demonstração de habilidade nos tubos, nos aéreos, nos floaters e nas manobras quase sem precedentes.
